1984 anti-Sikh riots
Delhi High Court convicted Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in a case related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Besides Congress' Sajjan Kumar, Captain Bhagmal, Girdhari Lal and former Congress councillor Balwan Khokhar have been sentenced to life imprisonment. Kishan Khokkar and former legislator Mahender Yadav have been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

New Chief Minister of Rajasthan
Jaipur: Ashok Gehlot takes oath as the Chief Minister and Sachin Pilot takes oath as the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan.

Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel: Congress President Rahul Gandhi had announced that farm loans will be waived within 10 days and that Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy* will be increased to Rs 2500 from Rs 1700 per quintal. These two decisions have been taken today.

New AIIMS in Tamil Nadu and Telangana
Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad: Cabinet has approved the establishment of two more All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), one in Tamil Nadu's Madurai & one in Telangana, with the cost of Rs 1,264 cr & Rs 1,028 cr respectively.

Madhavi Divan as ASG
The Central government has appointed advocate Madhavi Divan as Additional Solicitor General (ASG) to represent it in the Supreme Court.

New 4-lane bridge parallel to Mahatma Gandhi Setu
Union Minister RS Prasad: Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved a new 4-lane bridge parallel to Mahatma Gandhi Setu bridge on river Ganga in Patna, Bihar. Rs 2,926.42 cr will be spent on it & construction will be completed in 3 years.

Additional Assistance to Odisha and Tripura
High-Level Committee chaired by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today approved additional assistance from National Disaster Response Fund of Rs 1023.59 cr to Odisha & Rs 268.63 cr to Tripura. These states were affected by cyclone Titli, floods & landslides in the recent months.
